    POSITION SUMMARY:
    This position performs mechanical inspection repair maintenance preventive maintenance installation and calibration of the Districts heating ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC). HVAC equipment such as but not limited to air handling units cabinet heaters thermostats chillers boilers piping etc. Develops and promotes good community relations among school clientele.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


    HVAC Service and Maintenance

    • Respond to routine and emergency service calls for HVAC equipment.
    • Perform seasonal startup and shutdown of HVAC equipment including evaporative coolers cooling towers chillers and boilers.
    • Filter changing on all HVAC equipment two times annually and as needed.
    • Inspect and verify the operational safety of all heating boilers rooftop units airhandling units and ventilation systems.
    • Maintain accurate records/logs related to the HVAC equipment.
    • Accurately track and complete work orders in a timely manner.

    Troubleshooting and Repairs

    • Diagnose defects repair or replace defective parts in HVAC units and equipment.
    • Ability to test troubleshoot and set up boilers and boiler combustion efficiency.
    • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance inspections and associated repairs on HVAC equipment including but not limited to troubleshooting electrical circuitry and reading and interpreting schematics as it relates to HVAC equipment.

    Building Automation and Compliance

    • Working knowledge and ability to monitor the operation of equipment through the Building Automation System (BAS).
    • Ensure applicable mechanical codes and regulatory requirements are met.

    Project Support and Purchasing

    • Perform a variety of contracting and purchasingrelated tasks within the trade or in support of department buyers including identifying the scope and requirements of anticipated projects identifying and contacting suppliers and contractors conducting prebid walkthroughs and/or conferences performing quality control inspections inspecting delivered products and certifying completed work.
    • Perform as a subject matter expert and interface with project coordinators engineers general contractors and subcontractors on project design development and site visits.
    • Provide labor and material estimates related to HVAC for small remodel projects.

    Repair Recommendations and Estimates

    • Recommend to the supervisor repair needs to accomplish and eliminate ongoing and future repairs.
    • Provide estimates for time and materials for mechanicalrelated projects upon request from district sites Maintenance Leads and Maintenance Manager.

    Support for Other Trades

    • Assist other trades i.e. plumbing with piping and repair issues.
    • Basic plumbing from flush valves drinking fountains and minor repairs of sinks and other kitchenrelated issues.
    • Basic electrical from changing ballasts to troubleshooting issues.

    Safety and Hazardous Materials Knowledge

    • Knowledge of hazardous materials and disposal requirements.

    Other Duties

    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    None.

    Prioritize and schedule work tasks independently.
    Create and implement effective and efficient process management strategies (e.g. procedures equipment materials and supplies).
    Maintain accurate records in accordance with professional standards state guidelines and school system policy.

    EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
    High School Graduate or equivalent (required).
    EPA 608 Universal certification State Licensingfor HVAC/R Technician (required).
    Associates degree in related field (preferred).
    Bilingual (preferred).
    One 1 year job related experience (preferred).
    Working knowledge of plumbing electrical mechanical units (preferred).
    English fluency will be determined through the interview process.

    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
    Valid Colorado Drivers License.
    EPA 608 Universal certification State Licensingfor HVAC/R Technician(required).

    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Constant lifting five 5 to twenty 20 pounds

    Occasional lifting over fifty 50 pounds
    Constant bending squatting standing reaching sitting walking climbing kneeling crawling stooping repetitive motions
    Frequent overhead work

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Frequent exposure to dirt dust odors and fumes.
    Occasional exposure to hazardous materials.
    Occasional exposure to adverse climate and weather conditions.

    REPORTS TO:
    Supervisor of Maintenance and Facilities or designee.

    LOCATION:
    Duell Service Center(Districtwide assignments).

    SALARY:
    $29.69 $33.61 per hour depending upon education and job related experience.
