Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager the MRI Tech is responsible for providing a variety of imaging procedures including CT/MRI procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in CQI activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock burns and extraneous radiation to patients.

Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.

Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.

Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.

Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.

Effectively communicates with Imaging staff schedulers patients and all customers to promote quality patient care and safety.

Other duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the department and organizational performance in accordance with Curry Health Networks Mission Vision and Shared Values.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree is preferred; graduation from an AMAapproved school of Radiologic Technology is required.
  • One 1 year of radiologic/imaging experience.
  • Prefer specific experience and training in CT/MRI.
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Current BLS certification.

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy physiology and medical terminology.
  • Possesses a high level of knowledge of crosssectional anatomy.
  • Proficiency with most major MRI/CT equipment manufacturers hardware and software (GE Siemens Picker).
  • Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Basic Computer Knowledge

This job has special vision requirements as follows:

Close distance color peripheral depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This job requires exposure to the following environmental conditions:

None of the time: extreme heat/cold; wet/humid; work with explosives; vibration; outdoor weather; risk of electrical shock fumes/airborne particles; toxic/caustic chemicals

Up to 1/3 of the time: near moving mechanical parts

From 1/3 to 1/2 of the time: risk of radiation

The typical noise level for the work environment is: quiet to moderate noise

Hearing requirements: ability to hear alarms on equipment patient calls and instructions.

This job requires the following repetitive motion actions:

From 1 2 hours per day: grasping firm/heavy

From 5 6 hours per day: simple/light grasping and fine dexterity

From 7 hours per day: repetitive use of hands foot control
