About Us: Saint Sava Serbian Orthodox Elementary School is set to make history as the first Serbian Orthodox elementary school in Canada opening its doors in Fall 2025. As a registered notforprofit organization we are dedicated to enriching the academic and spiritual lives of our students valuing both educational excellence and a deep sense of cultural identity. Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated FullTime Primary School Teacher for Grades K6 who is keen to develop engaging lessons and experiential learning opportunities. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a groundbreaking institution that will serve the Serbian community in the GTA and beyond. Our ideal candidate will inspired by the world around them with a deep commitment to both education and the Orthodox Christian faith. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans for grades K6. Be prepared to significantly enhance the curriculum and aim to be 1.5 2 years ahead from the standard in academic subject areas.
Implement a broad range of teaching strategies and evaluation methods to develop and gain a complete picture of the childs knowledge and understanding.
Plan and participate in frequent outofclassroom/field trip experiences designed to inspire and challenge them to achieve their full potential.
Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment with small class sizes (no more than 15 students per teacher).
Integrate Orthodox Christian values and traditions into daily lessons and school activities.
Foster a love of learning and encourage the academic and spiritual growth of each student.
Collaborate with fellow educators parents and community members to promote a positive and effective educational experience.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Certification as a Teacher (OCT) in Ontario or teaching experience in Canada or Serbia. We also welcome teachers who are trained in IB Montessori or other experiential learning methods/philosophies.
Fluency in Serbian is highly desirable but not required.
Experience working with young children and contributing to their educational development.
Effective classroom management and organizational skills.
Excellent leadership and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a school community.
Current standard First Aid/CPR (or willing to obtain before starting).
Vulnerable Screening Police Record Check (or willing to obtain before starting).
