BIM Coordinator
Cedar Rapids IA
Our team has completed various projects for clients and businesses in the chemical food and beverage pharmaceutical consumer products and renewable fuel manufacturing industries. With years of applied knowledge and experience the BIM Coordinators in the Engineering Compliance dept seek to provide a superior BIM package to each client and for every application ensuring every requirement is met. Each project has its own unique challenges and the support of the BIM Coordinator will vary based on the hosting environment engineering disciplines involved Client requirements and external consultant interface.
Building Information Modeling is the process of the generation and management of physical and functional information in a facility. It involves creating a digital representation of a particular facilitys physical and functional characteristics. This includes the building construction type building components equipment utilities and furniture to just mention a few pieces of data. Building information models are digital files that are used to manage a design and construction project and make better decisions throughout the entire lifecycle of the project efficiently and effectively. This goes way beyond 3D modeling.
The BIM Coordinator is responsible for implementing all the procedures in Building Information Modeling (BIM) during the design. They support the design team facilitating coordination meetings conducting model reviews and providing software support to the project team members. BIM Coordinators also influence BSI modeling standards and tool adoption by participating in targeted focus groups.
Responsibilities
- Create client information requirement forms to outline the client site needs so that every team member knows what they need to do.
- Create Project kickoff documents such as a BIM Plan to define projectspecific standards in alignment with the clients requirements.
- Create Projects in ACC for design team and Client interface.
- Supported by the defined BIM Plan
- Conduct coordination efforts model reviews and track progress.
- Provide training and support for projectspecific tools and standards.
- Ongoing model health checks including progress audits and reporting of deviations from standards.
- Interact and support staff to maintain production and meet project deadlines.
- Communicate regularly with all project team leaders regarding project progress.
- Research new tools and software to enhance project delivery.
- Respond to software support tickets. (Revit Navisworks Plant3D AutoCAD)
- Participate in committees for the continuous improvement of SOP design tools and best practices
Required Skills
- Associate degree or 5 years of relevant experience
- Experience with Autodesk Cloud Services
- Proficient at Revit
- Knowledge of the applications and functions of laser scanning
- Knowledge of model alignment with multiple disciplines inclusive of laser scans
- Proficient in Microsoft tools
- Experience with Navisworks or other 3D Coordination software
- Relevant work experience in an Engineering and or Construction environment
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks across multiple projects
- Willing and eager to take on new challenges and learn new software/technology
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Revit Family creation
- Familiarity with Dynamo
- Familiarity with BlueBeam
- Familiarity with Plant3D
