Job Description

Flexible Schedule/Full or Part Time

The Occupational Therapist will assess diagnose evaluate and treat children with a wide variety of confirmed or suspected developmental disabilities.The Brockton Early Childhood Intervention Program is a public health program that provides therapeutic support to infants and toddlers who have developmental delays or are at risk for such delays. The goal of the program is to help children as soon as possible so they can reach their full potential. Services include speech therapy occupational therapy physical therapy and skill development.

Must be a licensed OTR and have a valid drivers license in state of residence with own means of transportation. Home visiting to surrounding towns is required.

Responsibilities:

  1. Complete neuro/motor evaluations sensory/motor assessments feeding evaluations and adaptive equipment as needed to diagnose evaluate and treat children with a wide variety of confirmed or suspected disabilities.
  2. Develop write and implement IFSPs for infants and young children.
  3. Participate in multidisciplinary team and provide consultation training and supervision to other staff members.
  4. Provide center and home base services group and individual treatment.
  5. Provide training and support to families.
  6. Complete reports record progress and interpret reports to families and other staff members.
  7. Serve as advocate for parents and childs first 766 evaluations when leaving the Early Childhood Intervention program.
  8. Actively participate in case conferences and inservice education trainings as required.
  9. Choose appropriate training materials.
  10. Perform duties consistent with agency/program policies and procedures.
  11. Execute duties to reflect reasonable safety standards. Standard precautions must be utilized and training obtained in areas that constitute risk.
  12. Perform other related work duties as needed or as assigned by supervisor or designee.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed OTR required; NDT training pediatric experience and/or Early Intervention Certification desired.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license in state of residence.
  • Must have accurate or correctable auditory and visual abilities to observe children and maintain safety.
  • On an infrequent basis must be able to respond rapidly to safeguard children during an emergency including thereat of fire disaster or imminent danger. Emergency response may require running carrying or lifting children. Must be able to react quickly to prevent injury or harm to a child.
  • On a moderate to frequent basis must have the agility to move quickly to reach a child who may need assistance. Must be able to stoop squat sit or otherwise position self to closely interact with children. Must be able to bend reach stretch and participate in play
