Job Description

Onsite: 3040 hours/week in the office

Smith Micro develops software to simplify and enhance the mobile experience providing solutions to leading wireless service providers and cable MSOs around the world. Our solutions enrich todays connected lifestyles while creating new opportunities to engage consumers via smartphones and consumer IoT devices.

This is an onsite internship position set to begin in late May or June lasting for 12 weeks. Summer interns will work 3040 hours per week with five 5 days in the office.

As a Quality Assurance Intern you will enhance your educational experience through practical onthejob learning assignments and project completion. You will gain handson experience in software development backend applications and exposure to technologies used in creating scalable and highperformance systems.

What you will do:

    • Execute tests including but not limited to regression functional and performance tests.
    • Identify document and report issues using Smith Micros bug tracking tool. Work with Quality Assurance Engineers to troubleshoot resolve and retest issues.
    • Maintain detailed records of all test cases test results and test environments. Ensure proper documentation is kept for all tests run against each development release.
    • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including product engineering and design to understand product requirements and identify testing needs.
    • Contribute to the development and enhancement of automated test scripts and tools.
    • Assist in building and maintaining a test environment to simulate realworld scenarios for device and software testing.
    • Participate in team meetings to provide feedback on software quality and suggest improvements for testing processes.
    • Help maintain the products quality standards by ensuring all release criteria are met before deployment.

What you will need:

    • Located within 20 miles of the office with reliable transportation to work inoffice five 5 days weekly.
    • Currently enrolled as a 3rd or 4thyear student in Computer Science Computer Engineering or related field.
    • Working knowledge of Windows 7 Windows 10 Word Excel Android and iOS devices.
    • Basic troubleshooting ability for issues on Windows Android or iOS devices.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized processes and workflows.
    • Proficient English (written and verbal) with excellent communication skills.

    • Desirable Skills and Qualities:
    • Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to identify and diagnose software issues.
    • Exposure to bug tracking tools such as Jira or similar platforms is beneficial.
    • Willingness to learn new testing methods and technologies in the field.
