Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. Our Yonge North Subway Extension Office 5650 Yonge Street North York) is seeking to hire a Project Manager reporting into the Managers and Senior Project Managers. The Project Manager administers a variety of services for YNSE project in a safe timely standardized and costeffective manner for quality services.
This is a Contract for up to 13 months.
What will I be doing
- Envisions project scope of work initiates prepares and presents for terms of reference and subsequent addenda for agreements governing the engagement of consultants
- Performs complete start to closeout project management on selected complex highrisk projects as required to meet corporate commitments with or without staff delegation
- Defines the need for concept preliminary or detail design alternatives and new or improved procedures design standards variations specifications or contract documents
- Reviews requests for property acquisitions requisitions for purchase orders change orders for contracts and addenda for consultant agreements
- Review consultants scope of work and task completion in relation to Task Sheets and Monthly Progress Reports
- Ensures that capital projects and programs for new replacement or enhanced infrastructure maximize customer service satisfy internal stakeholder requirements incorporate external agency requirements and serve public interests
- Coordinate RCD (Reference Concept Design) development with MX consultants and potential developers where facility integration applicable
- Coordinates several complex tasks under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments
- Reviews and evaluates consultant studies reports design proposals specifications and contract documents to meet established policies procedures and standards
- Assist the Managers and Senior Project Managers in directing and leading the TA (Technical Authority) developing Project Agreement Documents for the Progressive Design Build (PDB) Contract(s) through all stages and phases of the project and in engagement and interface with third party stakeholders such as municipalities and transit agencies
- Overseeing the performance of the Contractor(s) for assigned multidiscipline construction contracts
- Providing assistance in the evaluation/negotiation/resolution of contract changes and contractors claims
What Skills and Qualification Do I need
- Completion of a degree in Architectural Engineering or a related discipline or a combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrates years of experience in project/construction management including experience managing large complex multiyear transit projects preferably for passenger rail transit subway/LRT underground stations storage and maintenance facilities and related works.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer/Architect in the Province of Ontario is an asset.
- Knowledge of construction management practices and principles including familiarity with claims management is an asset.
- Experience in management or preparation of procurement documents including but not limited to project agreements.
- Project management experience to manage assigned LRT or Subway projects of high value and complexity in all stages of project management from start to closeout.
- Prior experience with municipalities and transit agencies is strongly desired.
- Organizational interpersonal and oral/written/presentation communication skills to coordinate complex multidisciplinary projects under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments
- Knowledge of Design Bid Build (DBB) P3 and/or Progressive Design Build (PDB) Contract Administration is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of coordinating complex civil transportation and utility work within transit project scope and adjacent work packages related to road network improvements.
- Strong problem solving and influencing skills to establish effective working relationships negotiate and deal with a variety of contacts both internal and external to the organization; along with the ability to gain cooperation from individuals not under direct authority
- Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation skills to present complex and/or new ideas with clarity and simplicity and to liaise with all levels within and outside the organization and with specialists across multiple sectors.
