Theenergetic team of theLegal Department supports all legal and compliance aspects of the FSC Group and advises FSCs management and its specializedunitsintheir dailyoperations.You will be managingFSCs portfolio of trademarks and other brands andtherebyhelpingto protect and secure FSCs portfolioand managing associated risks.In this function you will also contributeto trademark protection strategies and support trademark enforcement activities.Moreover the scope entailsconductingregulartrademark audits the engagementand supervisionof external counselsand close cooperation with other members of the legal team.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
You will focus onIP and especially trademark related aspectsconcerning the FSC Groupwith a direct reporting line tothe Senior Trademark Counseloperatingunder the FSC Group Head of the Legal Department.Yourrole will entail:
- Leadingglobal trademark filing and prosecution namely preparing and filing trademark applicationsas well ascorresponding with and instructing outside counsel.
- Coordinatingglobal trademark clearance investigationswhich entailsperforming and analyzing trademark searches.
- Managingand executingtrademark renewals declarations andaffidavitsof use.
- Managingglobal evidence of use includingthe implementation ofstrategies to gather such evidence.
- Advisinginternal colleaguesand FSCs networkon intellectual property proceduresguidelinesandpractices.
- Supportingvarious legal aspects of FSCs domain name portfolio including domain acquisitions and UDRPs.
- Analyzingrisks andsafetyassociated with new trademark laws regulationsand related enactmentsincluding the preparation oftraining.
- Developingand implementingyearly trademark audit projects.
- Assistingin the development of yearly trademark prosecution strategies.
- Trackingbudgetsexpensesand reconciliation of partnered costs.
- Maintaining an international list of external legal experts and updating contact information power of attorneys and letters of engagement.
- Cooperating closely with other IP and Legal Counsels in the team on IP and trademark enforcement activities including related process management as well as reviewing trademark watch notices coordinating trademark oppositions and cancellations.
Your profile
- Education and Training:
- Amastersdegreein IP or trademark lawor equivalent.
- Strong intellectualproperty backgroundwithknowledgeof IP portfolioand trademark enforcementmanagement database(s)and systems.
- Working ExperienceStyleand Skills:
- Atminimumfive(5)years ofpracticalexperiencepreferablyinhousein a globally oriented organizationand/orinternational law firm.
- Experience required in international trademark portfolios with specific experience in trademark clearance prosecutioninvestigationsand enforcementwork.
- Experience inthelicensingbusinessisvaluable.
- Strong organizationaland time managementskills:ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and projects in a structured waywhile delivering highqualitywork.
- Service and detail orientedwith aproactive work method.
- Ability torepresentFSC through his/her work with exemplary personal and professional attitude and conductincluding a friendly and selfconfident appearance.
- Languages:
- Fluency in English (spoken and written)isrequired.
- Fluency in German and/or Spanish and/or Frenchand/or Chinese(spoken and written) isavery valuableplus.
- Digital Skills:
- Standard software packages in particular MS Office 365 Word Excel PowerPoint. Experience with Dynamics 365 MS SharePoint MSVisionand MS Project is helpful.
- Trademark Portfolio Database Management Platforms isvery helpful.
- Contract Database Management platforms is an asset.
- Communication Skills:
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability toestablishandmaintain positive interpersonal relations.
- Others:
- Commitment to FSCs mission and valuesincluding cultural awareness.
- Ability to represent FSC through his/her work with exemplary personal and professional authority and conduct.
The Fine Print
- Location: Bonn Germany FSC International headquarter.
- Working Hours: Fulltime40 hoursper week 2 days per week in the office
- Duration of contract: 2year contract with the intend to go to openended.
- Starting Date: As soon as possible.
