Job Description

This position will serve both Minot North and Minot High

Hours Per Day:
6hours 3hrs at Minot North & 3 hrs at Minot High)

SUMMARY
Under basic supervision assists Native American students with MPS services provided by the US Department of Education Title VII grant program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential functions as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act may include any of the following representative duties knowledge and skills. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed by incumbents of this class. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions but are an essential function.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Provides assistance with Title VII students coursework and homework.
Monitors Native American students work and performance and assists with school assignments including reading English language and math skills.
Monitors student behavior and discusses with supervisor to improve student case management.
Supports the relationship between the Minot Public School District and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients visitors and District staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of workrelated issues client records and District information; follows compliance rules governing child abuse; performs related duties as required or assigned.

Education Training and Experience Guidelines
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND one year of experience working with students; OR an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Knowledge of:
MPS policies and procedures.
Rules and regulations of the US Department of Education Title VII.
Methods and techniques for working with students with special learning needs.
Skill in:
Assisting special needs students and understanding special training needs.
Following verbal and written instructions.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid North Dakota State Drivers License is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in classrooms and school facilities.

This position is subject to veterans preference.
