Job Description
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in one of the following fields of study: PsychologySociology Social Work Human Development Human Services Publicand Community Health Community Development and Nursing.
- Experience working with adolescent youth population is necessary(minimum 2 years paid experience or the equivalent volunteer experienceunder the supervision of a clinician or professor will be acceptable).
- Experience delivering evidencebased interventions is preferred.
- Strong writing and public speaking skills is essential.
- Followup and computer experience is required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct highquality training and service provision to adolescentyouth.
- Using an evidencebased model engage adolescent youth population inscreening and assessing the educational needs particular to this age group.
- Perform community outreach and activities which include:
- Recruitment of participants for all relevant components of theprogram.
- Promoting program services to the community and adolescentyouth.
- Recruiting and engaging parents guardians and caregivers ofchildren and adolescents enrolled in components of the program.
Program Specific Responsibilities
- Delivering judgement free training classes to adolescent youth using theevidencebased pregnancy prevention model.
- Identifying and screening candidates for Component 2 (VolunteerMentoring) of the SRAE program
- Delivering judgementfree workshops to parents guardians andcaregivers of children enrolled in the SRAE program.
- Provide assistance and/ or referrals for youth to obtain comprehensivefamily planning services health services or other support services asidentified.
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills/Abilities
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to represent theagency at functions and meetings
- Ability to initiate and develop communication in the community; knowledge ofthe Bronx and its communities
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Ability to stand walk or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties viapublic transportation
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time andin all types of weather including inclement weather
