Texas A&M UniversityTexarkana seeks a dynamic and experienced leader/educator to serve as the Director of the EagleLEAD Presidential Scholars Program housed in the School of Professional Education and Community Engagement (PECE). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the development of future leaders by leading academic courses coordinating workshops and mentoring students in this prestigious interdisciplinary program. This position requires expertise in leadership theory civic engagement and experiential learning along with a passion for global citizenship entrepreneurship and social responsibility.
The position includes but is not limited to grant administration data collection and analysis program and event planning as well as budgeting and recordkeeping. The position also requires collaboration with university faculty staff and community leaders and carries a 2/2/1 instructional assignment in leadership studies 2 classes per fall and spring semesters and 1 class per summer semester). The Director of EagleLEAD reports to the Executive Director of PECE.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Leadership & Course Instruction:
- Lead and teach courses related to the field of leadership including theory and practice community and team leadership ethical leadership and organizational development and change.
- Develop and deliver engaging interactive content for students in classroom online and experiential learning settings.
- Foster an inclusive and collaborative learning environment that encourages critical thinking ethical leadership and civic responsibility.
- Develop metrics to guide and assess instruction as well as enrollment trends persistence and completions.
Program Management & Development:
- Oversee the design coordination and implementation of program activities that align with the programs core objectives:
- Global Citizenship and Local Action: Facilitate workshops with global experts local leaders and alumni and guide students in communitybased research servicelearning and collaborative projects.
- Civic Literacy and Responsibility: Organize seminars discussions and civic engagement projects that address governance public policy and active citizenship.
- Free Inquiry and Civil Discourse: Lead debates guest speaker events and structured forums to encourage civil discourse and free inquiry.
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Coordinate experiential learning events such as innovation labs entrepreneurship workshops and mentorship sessions with industry experts.
- Enhanced Leadership Opportunity: Manage the selection process for the Eagle Aspire program and supervise senioryear leadership activities including mentorships and travelbased learning.
- Establish and maintain an everevolving pool of leadership practitioners who may serve as program speakers instructors mentors advisors etc.
Mentorship & Advising:
- Provide mentorship to EagleLEAD Presidential Scholars
- Offer oneonone and groupadvising to students
- Assist with career development and provide guidance on internships research projects and professional networking.
Collaboration & Outreach:
- Collaborate with university faculty and staff to identify areas of mutual interest
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with community leaders industry experts alumni and global partners
- Organize and participate in outreach efforts to strengthen the visibility and impact of the EagleLEAD Presidential Scholars Program within the university and the broader community.
- Represent the program at university events conferences and external engagements.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications
- A masters degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of 18 graduatelevel SCH in Leadership Education Political Science Business Public Administration or a closely related field
- Active in community leadership and/or service opportunities with familiarity of leadership theory civic responsibility ethical decisionmaking and organizational development.
- Experience in mentoring and advising undergraduate students.
- Ability to engage with varied student body populations and foster a collaborative inclusive learning environment.
- A demonstrated commitment to global citizenship social impact and entrepreneurial thinking.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple timelimited projects to successful completion.
- Established budgeting/recordkeeping skillset.
- Excellent interpersonal verbal digital and written communication/presentation skills.
- Knowledge of computer applications including word processing spreadsheet and database capabilities.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively with all segments of university business and industry government and student populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Doctoral degree in Leadership Education Political Science Business Public Administration or a closely related field.
- Two years of experience in teaching leadership civic engagement or related disciplines at the collegiate level
- Demonstrated effectiveness in designing and leading communitybased servicelearning projects.
- Familiarity with grantbased operations
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching advising and/or coaching high school students.
- Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities of firstgeneration college students and a demonstrated commitment to student success.
- A record of effective professional practice in leadership development civic engagement or related areas.
- Experience supervising organizational teams of employees and/or volunteers.
Other Requirements
- Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours.
- Ability to work events after hours or on weekends when needed.
