Your New Role:
Working alongside the project management team The Senior Superintendent is responsible for all aspects of onsite activities related to project including but not limited to the coordination of trades and subcontractors site safety program direct supervision of staff quality management project cost and schedule. Projects related to road building earth moving dam and bridge construction railway infrastructure works shoring cofferdams and marine works and underground utility installations.
This is a fulltime permanent position based out of our North Bay ON office. Project sites vary from North Bay to Sudbury and across much of Central and North East Ontario. Company Vehicle will be provided.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
While the Senior Superintendent is responsible for a multitude of duties the main functions include:
- Plan daytoday construction site activities and supervise assigned staff by providing training guidance work assignments and direction.
- Be accountable for the health safety and environmental of all onsite staff including providing site orientation as required.
Provide performance management of assigned staff as required up to termination of employment. - Ensure quality standards are specified communicated and achieved and that required quality engineering or other inspections are arranged for as required.
- Work closely with the Health Safety and Environmental Officer to develop and manage the project site safety program in accordance with all of Sullivans policies and procedures and applicable legislation.
- Comply with all relevant regulatory and corporate policies and procedures as well as ensure that staff have proper licenses and qualifications for the work assigned.
- Understand and abide by all Ministry of Labour (MOL) regulations including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
- Ensure systems are in place to manage project site safety and environmental concerns (ex. Safety plan JSA process prejob meetings etc..
- Participate in the development of and manage the project sitespecific environmental program to ensure compliance with Sullivans policies and procedures.
- Provide valuable input to lookahead meetings with owners.
- Maintain positive working relationships and communication with owners consultants subcontractors and project team.
Health Safety and Environmental:
- Adheres to all safety procedures and regulatory compliance.
- Communicates and enforces safety standards in conjunction with the Health Safety and Environmental Officer.
Quality:
- Adheres to all processes and procedures in the Sullivan Integrated Management System (SIMS).
- Ensures the quality of produced efforts reflects the Sullivan quality standards core values.
What You Will Need to Succeed:
- 510 years of experience in a supervisory role in the construction industry such as experience as a construction supervisor or field superintendent.
- A college diploma in a construction technology or a university degree in civil engineering is an asset.
- Construction trade certification of status as a professional engineer is an asset (i.e. Gold Seal Certification P.Eng.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word Excel)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Level II Secret Government clearance.

- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience in leading public infrastructure projects including dams bridges and road works projects.
- Demonstrate experience in supervising projects with extensive concrete works
- Experience in executing a large variety of site related construction activities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills ability to communicate effectively with others both internal and external stakeholders and partners
- Ability to trust and work collaboratively within a team
- Excellent organizational skills and knowledge of project management estimating and cost control skills
