Required Texas Peace Officer License issued by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer
Standards and Education (TCOLE)
Required Valid Texas Drivers License and a record that meets the Districts standard
Required some experience in law enforcement including experience in criminal investigation
Must be able to work independently
General knowledge of criminal investigation police report writing and criminal laws
General knowledge of modern police method and procedures
General knowledge of geography of City and the location of important buildings
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
Training and ability to subdue offenders including use of firearms handcuffs and operation of automobile
Bonded as required by Texas Education Code 37.081(h)
Ability to pass required physical psychiatric and drug tests
Aptitude to work well with youth and adults
Must be able to maintain emotional control under stress
Required to work any shift hours or assigned function including weekends and holidays; no schedule is considered permanent to include days off and maybe changed to meet the needs of the department
Must comply with hiring standards set forth in the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Officer
Standards and Education (TCOLE) for Peace Officer licensing to include all hiring requirements as prescribed by the District and the Police and Security Services Department
Possession of physical agility and endurance; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates community leaders local business owners other legal and law
Patrol assigned campus(es) and/or patrol routes walking or driving within district jurisdiction.
Respond to all calls from campus(es) concerning crisis situations accidents and reports of crime.
Investigate all criminal offenses that occur within districts jurisdiction.
Collect and preserve evidence for criminal investigations including witness statements and physical evidence.
Conducts criminal investigations interviews suspects gathers and secures evidence conducts surveillance develops informants obtains search warrants and apprehends violators.
Processes crime scenes; takes photographs and makes sketches of the crime scenes; maintains the chain of custody and records actions taken on the scene.
Locates and interviews witnesses suspects and victims.
Performs background and criminal history investigations; makes arrests.
Prepares affidavits for arrest and search warrants; obtains appropriate court orders; executes warrants.
Provides testimony for court hearings grand juries and depositions.
Maintains photo fingerprint criminal and related files.
Prepares daily special and periodic reports on arrests activities and cases.
Performs public relations tasks such as speaking to groups and responding to citizens requests for information or complaints.
Serves on task forces and as a liaison with other police departments and law enforcement agencies.
Complete assigned health and safety courses to create a safe work environment.
