Job Description:

The Department of Biology at Wake Forest University invites applications for four fulltime tenuretrack faculty positions in Eukaryotic Cell Biology Microbiology Neurobiology and Plant Ecophysiology at the assistant professor level. We especially encourage applicants who blend expertise across disciplines. If your research bridges multiple research areas please submit a single application to the position that is your focus but indicate clearly if any of the others are of interest.

  • We seek a eukaryotic cell biologist studying mechanisms by which cells function using cellular molecular and/or biochemical approaches.
  • We seek a microbiologist studying the physiology biochemistry and/or genetics of prokaryotes using cellular molecular and/or biochemical approaches from single organisms to communities and ecosystems.
  • We seek a neurobiologist studying the neural circuit basis of behavior using any combination of classical and modern approaches.
  • We seek an ecophysiologist studying plants in their natural environments and focused on processes ranging from cellular to global scales. The preferred candidate will work on questions related to the ecosystem impacts of global change.

New hires will have the opportunity to develop courses in their areas of expertise to serve graduate students and majors and minors in Biology Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Environmental Studies and Neuroscience; teach existing courses in our introductory core; and mentor M.S. and Ph.D. students in our graduate programs.

The successful candidates will join a collaborative community of teacherscholars engaging with lifes diversity from the biosphere to the molecule. We seek individuals that demonstrate a commitment to developing thriving externally funded research programs and engaging undergraduate M.S. and Ph.D. students through research mentorship and in the classroom. The Biology Department spans two campuses in WinstonSalem NC (Reynolda Campus and Wake Downtown) and supports faculty research with numerous shared facilities including a vivarium greenhouse herbarium mass spectrometry facility andstateofthe art microscopy facilities.
