UDRIs Sustainment Technologies Transition division (STT) closely supports the AF Rapid Sustainment Office in technology transition of advanced manufacturing technologies. This position is located at UDRIs facility in Moraine OH and will focus on understanding the material science issues of additive manufacturing applied corrosion technologies cold spray repair and connecting material properties to part enduse needs. This will include material/process risk assessments and selection troubleshooting ideation for process improvement and/or material replacement providing subject matter expertise on structureproperty and processproperty relationships test plan development and test data interpretation and validation of part performance vs. enduse requirements. The position will be initially focused on polymer and composite additive manufacturing methods including fused filament fabrication high speed extrusion and selective laser sintering.
1. Bachelors degree in relevant technical field.
2. Degree in chemical polymer materials or other relevant engineering field
3. 8 years of directly related experience in polymer and/or polymer matrix composites (PMC) engineering
4. 8 years of directly related experience with polymer and/or PMC characterization and property development including method selection and/or development data collection analysis and reporting
5. 8 years of experience performing Design of Experiments and statistical analysis
6. Experience qualifying aerospace products and processes
7. Demonstrated strong technical writing skills
8. Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills
9. Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication and presentation skills with coworkers and clients at all levels
10. Demonstrated successful collaboration within a multidisciplinary team
11. Due to the nature of this position US citizenship is required
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications the ideal candidate will
bring many of the following:
1. MS degree in chemical polymer materials or other relevant engineering field
2. Experience with additive manufacturing and applying knowledge of structureproperty and processproperty relationships to additive manufacturing projects
3. More than 8 years of directly related experience in polymer and/or PMC engineering
4. More than 8 years of directly related experience with polymer and/or PMC characterization and property development including method selection and/or development data collection analysis and reporting
5. Experience leading equipment specification procurement installation and/or implementation
6. Demonstrated selfmotivation with ability to work with minimal supervision
7. Working knowledge of US Air Force policies and procedures
