SALARY FOR THIS POSITION DEPENDS ON YOUR EXPIRENCE IN HIGH END PASTRY SKILLS AND WILLINGNESS TO TAKE OWENERSHIP OF THE POSITION
Sorrel River Ranch is a Four Diamond luxury guest ranch located along the scenic Colorado River surrounded by 2000foothigh cliffs buttes and mesas. This exclusive 240acre riverside oasis is 17 miles from Moab 21 miles from Arches National Park and 43 miles from Canyonlands National Park. JJs Mercantile located along scenic Highway 128 is a country store reminiscent of days gone by. A onestopshop for groceries from farmfresh vegetables eggs and butter to daily made bread treats snacks and necessities along with curated gifts camping gear and Sorrel River Ranch and JJs Mercantile branded tees and more.
We are looking for an experiencedCook/Pastry Chef to prepare a variety of upscale togo foods and desserts.
Your skill in crafting a menu creating delicious sandwiches wraps salads and other grab and go foods as well as baking high quality treats should be matched by your creativity to develop new amazing tastes and recipes.
The ideal candidate will be wellversed in multiple areas of the culinary arts with a passion for exceeding guests expectations with your creations. They must adhere to health and safety standards to provide clients with the best possible serving.
The goal is to enhance customer satisfaction so that we can maintain and expand our clientele.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare a wide variety of foods including up scale food to go and desserts following traditional and modern recipes
- Create new and exciting items to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers
- Decorate pastries using different icings toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting
- Monitor stocks for cooking and baking ingredients and make appropriate orders within budget
- Check the quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking
- Guide and motivate retail staff on food items to work more efficiently
- Identify staffing needs and help recruit and train personnel
- Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience as Sous and or Pastry Chef baker or relevant role
- Great attention to detail and creativity
- Organizing and leadership skills
- Willingness to replenish professional knowledge
- In depth knowledge of sanitation principles food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition
- Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (menu items that are gluten free sugarless etc.
- Certificate in culinary arts pastrymaking baking or relevant field
We have limited rental housing available on a first come first served basis. Starting rate of pay will be based on level of experience.
