SpeechLanguage Pathologist Responsibilities:
Conducting initial and ongoing evaluations of residents speech language cognitive and swallowing abilities.
Identifying communication and swallowing disorders as well as barriers to effective communication.
Developing individualized treatment plans to improve residents ability to speak comprehend language and safely eat or drink.
Providing interventions for speech articulation language development voice disorders cognitivelinguistic impairments and swallowing difficulties.
Assisting residents in recovering from speech or swallowing issues related to conditions such as stroke neurological disorders or dementia.
Helping residents improve their social communication and interaction abilities enhancing their quality of life.
Educating residents families and staff on communication techniques swallowing strategies and safety precautions.
Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including physical therapists occupational therapists nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care.
Participating in care planning meetings to set and review therapeutic goals.
Maintaining accurate records of assessments treatments and progress to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school with a masters degree in SpeechLanguage Pathology.
  • License as required by the State of Wisconsin to practice as a SpeechLanguage Pathologist.
