With that said we currently have an amazing job opportunity in our Shawnee Mission KS location for an Optician to assist our patients with the selection and purchase of eyewear as well as the adjustment and dispensation of the patients eyewear. Along with assisting our patients with eyewear selections the Optician will be responsible for maintaining inventory control and ensuring the proper documentation of optical records (both paper and electronic).


This is a Monday Friday Day shift position with No weekends or No holidays!

Some of the duties for this position include but are not limited to:
  • Answers all questions correctly and effectively that are related to optical issues
  • Greets all patients in a warm and friendly manner
  • Provides routine cleaning and adjustment services for patients entering the practice
  • Educates and assists with the selection of eyewear that is available in the optical department
  • Orders jobs from labs according to practice protocols
  • Checks in and documents all incoming jobs orders correctly
  • Notifies the patient in a timely manner when their order is ready to be dispensed
  • Completes all necessary paperwork efficiently and accurately to document sales and patient activities
  • Ensures the highest level of customer service and patient satisfaction
  • Provides input on how to improve customer service decrease costs and increase revenues for the optical department
  • Supports the practice core values and mission statement to develop enhance and promote quality customer service through team effort
  • Exhibits flexibility sensitivity and respect while maintaining an effective working relationship with all team members
  • Maintains practice confidentiality follows HIPAA guidelines and follows the rules and regulations of the practice as documented in the practice employee manual
  • Other work duties as assigned


Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Current optician license required
  • Associate or Bachelors Degree in Marketing or a related field preferred
  • Two years of experience as an optician in a busy practice required


ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong hospitality skills and patient care focus
  • Be proficient with computer skills
  • Have the ability to problem solve
  • Detailed oriented
  • Have a working knowledge of postoperative Medicare Medicare Replacement and Medicaid plans
  • Have excellent communication skills proper grammar and writing capability
  • Be a team player
  • Selfdirected highly motivated able to multitask and work under pressure in a fastpaced environment
  • Able to accurately and efficiently handle multiple projects at one time
  • Have exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Possess a caring patient and friendly attitude
  • Be familiar with all forms associated with the patients medical record (paper / electronic)
  • Be familiar with the use and operation of optical software
  • Be knowledgeable with lenses frames and alloptical supplies
  • Have a complete understanding of optical inventory
  • Have outstanding sales ability
  • Have a wideranging knowledge applicable to eye care and current trends in eyewear
  • Able to be proactive and deal with conflict resolution
