If you are you a Machinist professional looking for an exciting opportunity to grow and develop professionally Emerson Discrete Automation has the perfect opportunity for you! We are looking to hire a Machinist A on 2nd shift based in our Elk River Minnesota location. Come join a great team of Operations professionals!

In this Role Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Sets up runs and programs various machines including CNC lathes with live tooling CNC vertical mills and millturn machines
  • Runs multiple machines as required or directed
  • Develops and plans machining operations
  • Writes programs to control machining of parts by automatic machine tool operation
  • Analyzes blueprints and engineering drawings to determine configurations of cuts
  • Determines type and size of cutting tools based on material hardness and shape of cut
  • Determines tool path speeds and feeds to optimize machine usage tooling life and cycle time
  • Completes all supporting documentation to ensure compliance with Tescoms quality system
  • Performs complex setups on CNC machine tools within acceptable time frames
  • Documents setup instructions for new products for future use
  • Identifies fixtures and tooling needed for new or existing products; documents and communicates any changes to machinists and support personnel
  • Produces products on CNC or manual machines to meet or exceed department standards
  • Troubleshoots processes to eliminate issues
  • Supports total quality and process improvements through active participation in Process Improvement Teams or meetings
  • Performs work safely by following all safety rules and ensuring safety guards are in place on all machines
  • Performs quality functions according to Quality Assurance department processes
  • Performs inspections of products using various inspection devices
  • Completes operator selfinspections and records data
  • Manually operates CMM to inspect GD&T and uses it for existing programs
Who You Are:

You will consider all relevant factors and use appropriate decisionmaking criteria and principles; you will identify and create the process vital to get work done and provide timely and helpful information across the organization.

For This Role You Will Need:
  • Six 6 years of machining experience in a CNC production environment machine shop
  • Post high school training or equivalent experience in machine shop blueprint reading machine shop math advanced CNC programming and automated measuring equipment
  • Proficient with GD&T
  • Demonstrates a professional and positive attitude
  • Proven ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of shop math
  • Ability to write and verify programs to be run on CNC machines in an acceptable time frame
  • Physical ability to lift carry or maneuver up to 40 pounds
  • Can communicate effectively with customers suppliers and employees
  • Ability to work in a cooperative and teamoriented environment
  • Ability to use computers and shop reference manuals
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
  • CMM programming experience preferred
