Job Description

Night Guardian

The MLA Night Guardian is a fulltime seasonal position (July through midAugust) with Move Language Ahead which is the trade name for Go Languages Worldwide ltd. in the UK and Study World Corporation in the US. As the Night Guardian you would work under the direct supervision of the MLA Welfare Manager. You would be an essential part of our MLA team hired to monitor the safety and wellbeing of international high school students attending a cultural immersion program six nights per week from 10 p.m. to 7a.m. and enforcing the MLA designated quiet hours and curfew.

  • Reports to Welfare Manager
  • Employment from end of June beginning of August
  • 6 working days per week
  • 1 day off per week

SCHEDULE
The Night Guardian is required to work six nights per week from 10 p.m. to 7a.m. to meet the demands of the program.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Candidates must have a High School degree or equivalent. Successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a highpressure environment. Candidates must represent MLA Move Language Aheads values and model those values to subordinates and colleagues. Required additional skills include:

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing using proper grammar and vocabulary

Selfmotivation

Ability to be pleasant polite and cooperative with fellow employees vendors and guests

Additional preferred qualifications:

First Aid certification

CPR/AED certification

The completion of a satisfactory background check is required. The completion of a child abuse clearance may be required.

KEY POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
PreProgram

Attend all required paid training/induction meetings prior to the start of a session.

Review campus policies and become knowledgeable with emergency procedures.

Complete any required training sessions/courses as directed.

Residence Hall Supervision

Conduct regular rounds of the residence hall(s) to ensure guests are respecting curfew and quiet hours.

Patrol and monitor hallways stairwells outside facilities and other public and unsupervised places of the campus to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students and staff and the security of the facility.

Challenge unauthorized visitors and escort them to exits; report if necessary.

Liaise with campus Public Safety on matters of campus security and emergency management.

Conduct room inspections as directed to ensure rooms are kept clean and emergency exits clear of obstructions.

Report maintenance issues to the Center Manager for reporting to the campus liaison(s) .

Office Duties

Staff the center office as directed.

Complete daily incident log.

Answer phones and make accurate records of conversations and/or messages.

Assist the center administration in making photocopies running errands preparing activities etc.

Departure Day

Assist in the collection of residence hall keys and materials required by the campus.

Conduct room inspections as directed and report any damage to the Center Director immediately.
