Job Description
What you will do
As Sustainable Logistics Expert at the Kuehne Climate Center (KCC) you will bring your understanding of global logistics industry operations and organization to shape and inform the activities of the KCC. You will help us build and maintain meaningful partnerships with logistics industry partners and support the design and implementation of new sustainable supply chain and logistics solutions.
Next to leading your own research and project activities you will provide industry insights knowledge of sustainable logistics and commercial acumen to support the whole portfolio of KCC activities.
The KCC is a new subsidiary of the Khne Foundation and its mission is to accelerate climatecompatible development within and through logistics systems. We do this through applied research & thought leadership project & advisory work and training & capacity building with a focus on low and middleincome countries.
KCC is a globally operating think & do tank headquartered in Hamburgs vibrant Hafencity. From here we support all our projects actively partnering with our regional teams and with institutions from around the world.
In a small team with strong growth ambitions 4x in 4 years) you have the opportunity to shape a new institution from early on.

Youre good at
- Understanding and analyzing practices and drivers as well as customer requirements and market frameworks in logistics and supply chains.
- Following logistics industry developments and trends and their linkages with climate action
- Business plan design and implementation
- Building and maintaining mutually beneficial partnerships with industry actors
- Communicating about logistics and sustainable development using a variety of tools and techniques
- Training and advising others on logistics and supply chain management processes and operations
- Writing and communicating complex ideas to reach diverse audiences
- Project management
- Working with an international and interdisciplinary team
- Developing logistics solutions and supply chains for sustainability
You bring
- 8 years of realworld logistics industry experience
- Bachelors or Masters degree in logistics and/or business administration or closely related subjects
- Knowledge of sustainability initiatives in logistics supply chain management and transport across different industry sectors (e.g. food energy FMCG etc.
- Track record of implementing innovative logistics solutions
- Experience with business building and management from startup world or established industries
- Evidence of commitment to sustainability particularly climate change
- Good communication skills ability to present and convince others
- A creator/builder attitude with a cando mentality and independent work style
- Ability to connect with remote team and leadership
- Willingness to occasionally travel internationally
- Eligibility to work in Germany
- Fluency in English and at least one other language
You will work with
- The Executive Team of the KCC including the Senior Strategy Director and CEO
- Individual project teams developing and implementing solutions
- KCC Knowledge Team
- KCC industry partners universities NGOs and government agencies

Additional information
The KCC is a subsidiary of the Kuehne Foundation in Schindellegi Switzerland. Established in 1976 by the Khne family and is one of the largest foundations in the Germanspeaking world. As an operational foundation it is involved in the areas of logistics medicine culture and since the beginning of 2023 climate action. The Foundation is independent operational and international.
