Job Description

Security Monitor (SM) Job Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Security Monitor (SM) to ensure the security and safety of restricted areas including controlled and unclassified spaces ancillary buildings and personnel movements. As an SM you will report directly to the Security Monitor Supervisor (SMS).

In this role you will be responsible for providing continuous monitoring of uncleared personnel and visitors ensuring compliance with the sites security protocols and operational procedures (CONOPs). Your focus will be to safeguard sensitive information and infrastructure by restricting the movement of uncleared personnel to authorized areas and activities in accordance with established security and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities/Duties:
Estimated Time Allocation Essential Functions

Maintain Security Knowledge 20
Ensure a strong understanding of assigned SM Project CONOPs Facility Regulations emergency procedures and all other site protocols. Communicate security processes effectively and professionally in all interactions with both site personnel and uncleared individuals. Control and Restrict Access 15
Maintain control over assigned uncleared personnel ensuring they are restricted from accessing sensitive materials or unauthorized areas. Actively prevent theft or removal of facility items. Monitor Communications 15
Effectively communicate and manage radio communications on the sites handheld radio system to support operational safety and security. Monitor for Unauthorized Items 15
Ensure uncleared personnel do not bring unauthorized electronic devices or prohibited items onto the facility. Emergency Protocols 10
Ensure all uncleared personnel are aware of and follow evacuation lockdown and security procedures. Maintain positive control during emergency situations. Incident Reporting 10
Accurately collect and process security incident reports infraction reports and selfreports related to events occurring onsite. Physical Demands 10
Perform job duties in various weather conditions often requiring prolonged periods of standing walking sitting and climbing stairs. Additional Support 10
Assist other operational areas such as custodial food services and trades as needed and directed by security management. Ensure compliance with health and safety practices onsite. Other Duties
Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Essential:

  • Year 12 completion
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle

Experience and Skills:

  • At least 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Adherence to facility and safety procedures
  • Strong communication skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to change and contribute to continuous improvement
  • A positive attitude with a collaborative approach to achieving business outcomes
  • A customerfocused mindset
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to workplace diversity and equity principles

Work Environment Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions ranging from near 0C to over 40C.
  • Regularly required to walk sit use hands for handling or feeling objects reach with hands and arms climb or balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts high precarious places and outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is typically loud.
