Teachers may apply for the following special responsibility position. This is a oneyear 1.0 temporary position effective September 1 2025 to June 30 2026. The successful applicant will be able to return to their previous school after this oneyear term.
The Literacy Coaching Teacher will work closely with Senior District Staff to enhance classroombased instructional and assessment practices in Literacy for grades K7.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Literacy Coaching Teacher is responsible for providing direct classroom support to K7 teachers assisting them in becoming familiar with current research and promising practices in literacy. Responsibilities include:
Elbowtoelbow support for teachers in the classroom.
Provide or plan inservice on literacy resources teaching strategies interventions and assessments.
Work with individuals or groups of teachers in a consultative and facilitative manner (demonstration lessons planning modeling instructional practices peer coaching).
Assist with lesson and unit planning informed by the assessment cycle.
Support family/guardian in engaging in literacy including supporting communitybased learning opportunities.
Participate in regional and provincial activities related to literacy.
Performs other duties as required by the Assistant Superintendent of Schools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires an enthusiastic dedicated educator with the following skills and qualifications:
Experience teaching Language Arts in the primary and intermediate grades including demonstrated knowledge of the Language Arts Curriculum and the BC Performance Standards and Learning Progressions.
Demonstrated literacy background including knowledge and understanding of current pedagogy and assessments.
Demonstrated experience adapting and modifying instruction and assessment to support equity and inclusion.
Experience in connecting assessment and data to guide instruction and intervention.
Proven commitment to the First Peoples Principles of Learning
Demonstrated facilitation and positive interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Teaching category five or higher. A masters degree with a specialty in this area is an asset.
Valid B.C. Teaching Certificate.
Drivers License and willingness to travel

The starting annual salary for this fulltime teacher position ranges from $60090 $109520 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
