foster care system. The nurse identifies immediate physical health needs and makes
recommendations for continued care. This role is crucial in ensuring the health and wellbeing of
foster care children during their transition into the system.
Essential Functions:
1. Conduct comprehensive physical health assessments for children entering the foster care
system.
2. Identify and document any immediate health concerns or needs.
3. Collaborate with social workers pediatricians and other healthcare providers to address
or connect children to needed services.
4. Provide health education and support to children.
5. Maintain accurate and detailed records.
6. Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and standards.
7. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss and plan care for children.
8. Advocate for the health and wellbeing of foster care children.
Education: Degree in nursing from an accredited college or university or a graduate of
an approved RN program.
Experience: Two years of experience in a nursing role preferably with the pediatric
population.
Specific skills/abilities:
o Strong assessment and diagnostic skills
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
o Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
o Compassionate and empathetic approach to care
Specialized knowledge licenses etc.: Must be a Registered Nurse. Knowledge of child
development and trauma informed practices.
Full-Time
