About the service:

The Medicare Mental Health Services are free and you do not need an appointment referral or Medicare card to visit a Medicare Mental Health Centre. The new services in Devonport Burnie and Outer Hobart are cofunded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments to provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country.

The service is tailored to the needs of the community in Tasmania and provides a combination of peerled recovery and clinical support.

The Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress allowing them to:

• Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department
• Access support from trained mental health professionals within their community

Role Overview:

• Deliver quality psychosocial assessment lowintensity brief intervention treatment and evaluation
• Brief Intervention Model of care; up to 6 sessions for mildmoderate short term goal orientated focused psychological therapy and generalist counselling.
• Participate as a member of the Medicare Mental Health Centre clinical team in providing comprehensive mental health assessment case coordination intervention or group work as required; with specific responsibility to provide Brief Interventions
• Complete Intake Assessments as required

Requirements:

• Must have one of the following: Social Worker with AASW registration/eligibility Counsellor with Level 2 PACFA or ACA registration General or Provisional AHPRA registration as a Psychologist Mental Health Occupational Therapist Mental Health Nurse.
• Demonstrated highly competent level of knowledge and skill to undertake routine clinical practice with a comprehensive understanding within the continuum of care.
• Demonstrated ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team utilising comprehensive communication skills to establish effective partnerships and provide consultation to the team as well as government and other nongovernment service providers.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to the professional development of self and others through education professional networking and application of evidence based practice.
• Demonstrating a comprehensive level of profession specific knowledge expertise and skill; specifically Brief Intervention Models of Care
• Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
• Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
