GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The candidate will be working in the processing areas and analytical Brigham Research Assay Core (BRAC) The candidate will work under direction of the BRAC Laboratory Director and performs full scope of management responsibilities in a research laboratory including supervision of staff activities in different processing and analytical core areas inventory management quality control program quality assurance and fiscal/budget management. Candidate may participate in grant application and budget in conference with laboratory director. He/She will be responsible for personal files documentations in agreement with CLIA88 and the Joint Commission (TJC) or equivalent deemed accreditation organization. Responsible for Quality Assurance/Quality Control/Quality Improvement programs in conference with Laboratory Director. Responsible for overseeing College American of Pathologists (CAP) surveys ordering new CAP survey and documentation tracking in compliance with TJC requirements (corrective action and investigation). Will commit to be certified by ASCP for the Chemistry only preferably or equivalent in order to meet standard required by TJC.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Supervises operation of the laboratory including overseeing the use of laboratory funds supply inventory and staff activities.
2.Oversee the analytical laboratory inpatient and outpatient facilities: creates SOPs policies certification statistics and quality control/improvement and assurance
3.Manage all lab personnel including hiring firing performance evaluation disciplinary action conflict resolution orientation and training. Is in charge of the documentation in compliance with TJC.
4.Responsible for financial management of research lab. Help to develop budgets analyzes trends and produces statistical reports. Additionally participates in all aspects of grant writing and proposals in conference with laboratory director.
5.Will be in charge of coordination of all regulatory and compliance activities for the lab.
6.Reports on work in progress at weekly meeting and interprets experiment results in conference with laboratory director.
7.If needed may carry out independent research projects which involve the of highly sophisticated techniques and data analysis.
8.May contribute to scientific literature and may present the results at hospital and outside meetings.
9.Trains other staff in specialized lab techniques and quality control monitoring program.
10.Oversees 9A processing lab.
11.All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS required master degree related to science Clinical Laboratory or health care preferred.
510 years of progressively more responsible clinical laboratory or clinical research work experience. Prior supervisory experience required.
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Must be able to make independent effective decisions in appropriate situations.
Must possess a scientific imagination commensurate with the independent of research projects
Must have aptitude for technical problem solving.
Ability to effectively supervise others.
Excellent organizational skills to ensure smooth functioning of lab.
Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to logically sequence experiments to maximize research.
Must possess aptitude for budget management.
High level of computer literacy.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Laboratory manager will be working in a clinical research laboratory. The main activity of the laboratory are the use of immunoassays (radioisotopes chemiluminescence organic solvent) and therefore human and animal biological fluids.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for supervising staff including hiring firing evaluating and disciplining. Will orient and train new staff members.
