The Role
ABC Central West in Orange is looking for a Reporter to create innovative stories for local state and national audiences. Your understanding of the rural landscape primary industry agripolitics and trade issues and their unique challenges will be invaluable in sourcing compelling stories that resonate with our audiences. The role will include:
- Presenting engaging Rural & Primary Industry stories or News Q&As interviews and packages across all platforms including breaking stories.
- Preparing and presenting content for the Rural Report and Country Hour.
- Contributing to the implementation of the Local Emergency Coverage plan and communicate with relevant stakeholders as required.
- In collaboration with colleagues identifying and developing local content that can be shared with other content teams and across the ABC on multiple platforms.

About You
We are looking for a dynamic Rural Reporter with experience creating content for radio TV and online.
You are creative highly organised and able to find great rural stories from our community to share for radio digital TV and social media and will love coming to work and connecting with our diverse audience across the region.
You will be able to demonstrate that you have:
- Accomplished editorial skillsacross multiple platforms particularly digital reporting.
- A strong understanding of the issues facing the agricultural and primary industries and how they affect the community.
- A creative approach to story construction and delivery.
- Experience in live presentation and broadcast.
- A passion and curiosity to source and create authentic stories which represent the broad diversity of the Australian community.
- The ability to travel to remote locations when required.
