Our Opportunity:
We at Chewy seek an experienced and creative attorney to join our rapidly growing animal health legal team! The successful candidate will collaborate closely with veterinarians pharmacists and compliance teams to support our veterinary and pharmacy businesses. This position will provide endtoend support for Practice Hub our proprietary and rapidly evolving prescription management and ordering platform. The person in this role will also support negotiations with pharmaceutical companies and other vendors in the animal space. This is a permanent fulltime hybrid inoffice role for our Plantation Florida or Bellevue Washington metro area office. The position will report to the Director Associate General Counsel for Chewy Health who is based in Bellevue WA.
What Youll Do:
- Identify interpret and apply applicable legal and regulatory requirements and determine their implications for the business.
- Provide guidance regarding developments in federal and state laws regarding the companys animal healthcare/pharmaceutical verticals.
- Partner with the business to craft and implement Chewys prescription service hub for animal health and related services provided by and to the veterinary community
- Draft and negotiate tech pharmacy and healthcare contracts including SaaS agreements Terms and Conditions Pharmaceutical Master Purchase Agreements/Vendor Terms and Master Service Agreements.
- Draft customerfacing online and offline agreements including enduser license Agreements Privacy Policies and Terms of Use.
- Review and assist in the implementation of all healthcarerelated tech projects within the organization.
- Partner with various business clients to develop actionable risk mitigation strategies from the beginning of projects to their launch dates keeping in mind legal privacy and compliance issues.
- Perform legal analysis of current and proposed business structures and drive legal workstreams for related launches for the business.
- Perform regulatory analysis of potential new business lines providing the business with pragmatic guardrails.
What Youll Need:
- 6 years proven track record practicing law in large US or UK law firms or inhouse at major US or European companies demonstrating continual growth and the ability to succeed in those environments.
- Strong academic credentials and qualification to practice in at least one US state with the ability to become licensed in Florida or Washington State as inhouse counsel.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as needed flexing the approach as the matter requires.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain sophisticated legal issues clearly and simply.
- Outstanding analytical skills with a businesscentric focus on risk.
- Excellent time management skills and experience leading to a diverse workload and challenging stakeholder demands.
- Be an excellent teammate selfmotivated able to demonstrate a history of optimally resolving sophisticated legal issues and able to successfully deliver sound and clear legal risk analysis advice in a fastpaced iterative business setting!
- Ability to work crossfunctionally and build consensus among various team members while maintaining a compliant approach.
- Ability to accommodate working with East Coast time zones and occasional travel.
- Experience in healthcare or pharmacy law is a plus particularly if it is in the ecommerce or virtual space.
- Experience working in ecommerce or for SaaS providers is also a plus.
- Working knowledge of FDA and Device regulatory / compliance for human and or animal is also desired but not required.
