The Department of Astronomy at the University of Michigan invites applications for a postdoctoral position in observational astrophysics with Prof Lia Corrales regarding XRISM observations.
Our interdisciplinary research team is dedicated to investigating the role of stardust in cosmic evolution with highresolution Xray spectra. The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for conducting forward modeling with high energy instrument simulation tools collaborating on the development of interstellar dust extinction models and analyzing and interpreting Xray spectroscopic data.
This position is expected to be up to three years. As required by our institution appointments are in one year increments with renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a full benefits package.
Applicants must have a PhD in astronomy or a related field before the start date. Desired expertise includes: data science techniques coding in open source experience with multiwavelength datasets excellent data visualization skills.
