Position Market Statement
The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal is seeking a candidate for a timelimited Personal Services Contract who possesses technical expertise in the field of permanently moored crafts (formerly known as permanently moored vessels). The selected candidate for this contract will review the language proposed by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM) for revisions to Title 41 Ill. Adm. Code 149Permanently Moored Craft Fire Prevention and Safety for accuracy and applicability. The candidate will also assist OSFM on an asneeded basis with questions pertaining to the ongoing Part 149 Permanently Moored Craft Program. This position will provide an average of 820 hours per month of work.
Essential Functions
- Review the language proposed by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM) for revisions to Title 41 Ill. Adm. Code 149 Permanently Moored Craft Fire Prevention and Safety for accuracy and applicability.
- Assist OSFM on an as needed basis with questions pertaining to the ongoing Part 149 Permanently Moored Craft program.
Minimum Requirements
- Possesses knowledge of Title 41 Ill. Adm. Code 149 Permanently Moored Craft Fire Prevention and Safety.
- Possesses knowledge and experience with Title 46 Chapter 1 Coast Guard Department of Homeland Security.
- Possesses knowledge and experience on the surveying of domestic vessels and maritime lifesaving equipment as well as the marine industry in vessel and facility compliance.
- Possesses experience in vessel dry docking topside surveys internal and external vessel survey reviews and audits as well as vessel damage surveys.
- Must be a Licensed Professional Engineer with experience in marine engineering and/or naval architecture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers technical experience in the U.S. Coast Guard with focus on the surveying of domestic vessels and maritime lifesaving equipment as well as the marine industry in vessel and facility compliance.
