We are seeking a creative dynamic and committed educators to submit an Expression of Interest for Continuing Education:

Elementary ESL Coach 2025Summer School Literacy and NumeracyProgram


OVERVIEW

Session Dates: Wednesday July 2 Friday Julydays)

ESL Coach Commitment 8 FTE days with the possibility of additional days if needed)

  • Wednesday July 2 from 8:30 am 11:30 am or time to be determined by the Program Principal (staff meeting/program prep)

  • Thursday July 3 Friday July 11 7 days)

  • Half a day before the start of the session to get resources organized

    Number of positions: One 1

    Locations:Broadview Public School Farley Mowat PS Jack Donohue Public School Summerside Public Schoo l Virtual School (Synchronous).

    Pay Rate: $50.87 per instructional hour 4 vacation pay.

    ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The ESL Coach is someone who supports the ESL/ELD teachers with pedagogical assessment and resource needs. The ESL Coach is responsible for aspects of preparing for the Elementary program including lesson planning students class placements securing guest speakers to enhance the program organizing materials to be used during the session supporting the organization/oversight of professional development opportunities for ESL teachers provide technical support to ESL teachers and provide class coverage if needed; often on short notice.

    The ESL Coach reports to the Site Principals the Elementary Program Supervising Principal and the Principal of Continuing Education and liaises with Continuing Education staff.

    Anyone offered and accepting work within the program is afforded with protection through district policies and procedures pertaining to all aspects of their work including Health & Safety.

    The responsibilities for this position include meetings before during and after the posted dates for the program.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1.OCT Qualifications and/or teaching experience at the Intermediate level (English and/or Mathematics)

    2. Additional Qualifications in ESL or TESL

    Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

    1. Current and relevant classroom experience using high yield teaching strategies

    2.Additional Qualifications in SPEC ED (an asset)

    Please note that your work within this noncredit program does not allow you to accrue Continuing Education seniority credits as per Article 40 of the Collective Agreement.

    All qualified applications will be considered on the basis of qualifications abilities knowledge and experience. Experience and qualifications in Continuing Education Programs are considered an asset.
