Job Description

Job Posting Information

Summary/Purpose
Prepare and paint natural gas meters fire hydrants and related piping throughout the City.

Temporary employment will begin mid to late May and continue through August (max. 67 working days).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

1. Perform the painting of a variety of exterior and interior surfaces.
2. Prepare surfaces for painting or repainting by pressure washing sandblasting grinding and/or sanding to remove dirt and loose paint.
3. Place masking tape over fixtures and other surfaces that are not to be coated.
4. Maintain equipment and tools.
5. Select premixed paints and prepare paint to match specified colors if needed.
6. Apply prime and finish paints and rust preventative materials to a variety of surfaces.
7. Operate tools and equipment used in painting.
8. Perform other job duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Age Requirement
A. Must be age 18 or older.

License Requirement
A. Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota drivers license or equivalent.

Education & Experience Requirements
A. Painting experience preferred.

Preference points will be awarded to Disabled Veterans score one time on first promotional or internal only selection process after securing City employment and only if the applicant successfully completes all phases of the exam process and Human Resources has received all supporting documentation.
