Job Description

Position: Applied Design Skills and Technology Teacher (fulltime permanent)

Department: ADST Senior School

Reports To: Principal Senior School

Start Date: August 27 2025

Application Closing Date: April 18 2025

Salary: $72969 to $118916

*The annual salary range will be updated with the 2025/26 salary grid.


St. Georges School is seeking an experienced and energized teacher to join the Applied Design Skills and Technology (ADST) department at the Senior School.

Applicants should have a primary specialization in programming computation thinking and robotics with secondary specialization in drafting. Our school has a robust robotics cocurricular program; the ability to support this would be expected. Although expected to primarily teach ADST courses this role may require teaching other subjects to ensure a 1.0 FTE teaching load. This role requires an innovative teaching professional to support a collaborative learning environment using engaging and meaningful pedagogy focused on student learning and growth.

Faculty are required to support the schools cocurricular program for two of three terms as well as the advisory program throughout the year.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Adjust courses to meet industry and postsecondary needs and trends.
  • Bring in a diversity of voices and worldviews to classroom material and learning experiences including Indigenous local and global perspectives.
  • Demonstrate commitment to incorporating realworld connections and problem solving into teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align planning instruction and assessment across sections of a course.
  • Utilize outcomesbased assessment Universal Design for Learning curriculum planning as well as strong formative and summative assessment strategies.
  • Incorporate Core Competencies regularly into lessons assessments and feedback.
  • Build a strong rapport with students and supporting the students in bringing out their best both in and out of the classroom.
  • Regular and prompt communication to students parents and other stakeholders about student needs and growth including but not limited to IEP meetings formal report cards and parentteacherstudent conferences.
  • Become involved in helping with and/or leading ADSTrelated enrichment activities both within and outside of class time including but not limited to competition hackathons Flex Day programming etc.
  • Use a variety of pedagogical approaches & lesson design.
  • Make relevant and innovative use of multiple technologies in the classroom including using Canvas as a student learning platform and Gradebook for reporting.
  • Participate actively in professional development opportunities and training programs.
  • Model the schools core competencies which include: humility integrity respect resilience empathy and responsibility.
  • Required to be involved in the robotics cocurricular program two terms out of three.
  • Lead a small group of students inschool Advisory program providing leadership and mentorship in socialemotional learning.


Qualifications will include:

  • Postsecondary degree in the areas relevant for ADST including by not limited to: Computer Science Data Science Architecture Urban Design Drafting or relevant areas.
  • Experience with teaching Robotics at Grade 810 levels and engaging students in a Robotics program is an asset.
  • Valid BC Teaching Certificate or maintains the ability to obtain one.
  • Knowledge of BCs ADST curricula Grades 8 through 12. especially modules and courses in drafting and computing.
  • Skills in Java Python and Javascript or PHP VEX Robotics and electronics skills. MySQL and other relevant technologies are considered an asset.
  • Experience teaching algorithmic thinking and computational thinking which includes problem solving and analyzing programs.
  • Experience with curriculum design design thinking inquirybased teaching.
  • Current on pedagogical trends through continued reading and relevant recent professional development.
  • Strong classroom management abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong problemsolving and organizational skills.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills with a particular emphasis on collaborative planning and assessment.
  • Superior skills in knowledge of curriculum teaching and learning specifically when planning educational strategies.
  • Strongly committed to student learning and success; being able to understand the needs of students while engaging them as active learners in the classroom.
  • Dynamic and energetic individual who wishes to work in a highly focused environment with students keen to succeed.
