Job Description
The Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity (CVOEO) has exciting opportunities for you to make a meaningful impact in our community by joining our team to provide housing advocacy services at the Champlain Place Emergency Shelter in Burlington Vermont. CVOEOs Champlain Place is a 24/7 lowbarrier shelter for up to 40 individuals experiencing homelessness.
Our Housing Advocates will provide a clientcentered traumainformed support for emergency housing guests and others experiencing homelessness with the ultimate goal of empowering individuals to access safe sustainable housing. Our Housing Advocates work with clients to secure housing and access essential benefits and refer people to employment medical mental health and substance use disorder services and will work with an array of community partners to help clients access options for housing and social services. Addressing barriers to housing and working with our partner agencies to address those barriers is a crucial aspect of this role.
Overnight shifts are from 12:00am 8:00am.

Bachelors Degree in social or human services or combination of education and experience from which comparable skills and knowledge are acquired. Indepth knowledge of the causes and effects of homelessness affordable housing poverty economic justice and multiple oppressions affecting economically vulnerable groups and direct experience in advocacy and service provision to individuals affected by housing and economic insecurities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer and data entry skills and effective verbal and written communication skills are required (bilingual skills a plus!. Must have a valid drivers license clean driving record and access to reliable transportation and willingness and ability to travel within the CVOEO service area.
