Job Description
Job Title: Consultant Psychiatrist Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) (NHS) Manchester
Salary:per annum

Job Overview:
This role involves working in a highintensity Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) providing care for patients requiring shortterm stabilization due to high levels of risk and distress. The Consultant Psychiatrist will play a crucial role in leading crisis interventions and ensuring the safe and effective management of complex cases.
Key Responsibilities:
As a psychiatrist you will conduct rapid psychiatric assessments for highrisk patients including those detained under the Mental Health Act (MHA) 1983 and provide expert guidance on medication management rapid tranquilization and risk mitigation strategies. You will lead crisis intervention protocols including deescalation techniques and behavioral support plans and act as a clinical lead for the multidisciplinary team ensuring evidencebased care plans are implemented. Additionally you will liaise with forensic services law enforcement and emergency psychiatric teams to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
Requirements:
- GMC registration with a CCT in General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry.
- Experience managing highacuity psychiatric cases in PICU or forensic settings.
