OverviewThe Dun & Bradstreet Observability team is hiring observability engineers to develop monitors to validate the health of our applications. Engineers will primarily receive requests via tickets from development teams to create monitors for their applications. These monitors include synthetic monitors to validate the health of a web site or web service Splunk alerts to monitor application data Splunk Observability detectors to monitor infrastructure metrics and others. Observability engineers will work closely with developers to understand their requests and develop monitors that meet their needs. These engineers will follow standards and be responsible for ensuring the alerts get displayed on company dashboards create ServiceNow incidents and trigger any required notification systems. The engineers work to support these observability tools and enhance them over time to provide greater capability and coverage.ResponsibilitiesCreate and test synthetic monitoring scripts to navigate and validate web sitesCreate and test synthetic monitoring scripts to utilize and validate web servicesCreate Splunk dashboards and alerts by writing Splunk queries (SPL)Support and troubleshoot the observability ecosystem and its integrations with dashboards ServiceNow and XMattersWork closely with developers to gather requirements and develop monitors that meet the use caseParticipate in review sessions to determine if applications meet the company observability requirementsRequirementsMinimum 2 years of monitoring/observability experience or related SRE or support experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk DynaTrace AppDynamics New Relic or similar toolsAn understanding of HTML/CSS and HTTP communications between client and serverProficiency with JavaScriptDesired SkillsProficiency with Splunk SPLExperience with Splunk products such as Enterprise/Cloud Rigor Observability and ITSIExperience with a synthetic monitoring platform and tools such as Selenium WebDriver JMeter AppDynamics New Relic etc.)Proficiency with Python and other languagesExperience with TerraformExperience with cloud platforms such as GCP and AWs
