QUAFICATIONS
Must be licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Maryland.
Minimum of two 2 years nursing experience preferred..
Ability to communicate effectively using the English language when deemed necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the management of the health suite.
Serve as a liaison between the school and other community organizations providing health and related services to students.
Assess students complaints of illness or injury and determine appropriate action to be taken.
Administer first aid and emergency care.
Handle and administer prescribed medication to students. Supervise staff administration of medication.
Check for general health problems and conduct student health appraisals to identify and assess physical behavioral and social needs.
Provide hearing and vision screening.
Maintain uptodate student health records.
Complete appropriate forms to report student accidents to the central office.
Report suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities.
Provide health counseling to students and parents/guardians regarding special needs.
