About the Role
You will support the Cancer services Clinical Trial and Investigational Medicines used at St Vincents Hospital Melbourne including dispensing drug accountability and preparation.
The focus for this position will be to support clinical trials conducted by the haematology and oncology units.

Provide clinical research knowledge & support within the pharmacy
Assist billing and finance reporting for clinical trials under the supervision of the senior cancer trials pharmacist
Classifications for this position will range from SX2 SX5 $92627 $104811 per annum).

St Vincents Hospital Pharmacy Department pharmacy services are decentralised and are provided from several satellite pharmacies located in patient treatment areas. We provide pharmacy services to inpatients outpatients and correctional facilities. The pharmacist is a member of the multidisciplinary health care team which delivers care in a patient focused manner.

Position Description
LOCAL WORK ENVIRONMENT
The pharmacy department at St Vincents hospital is decentralised. We provide pharmacy service from satellite pharmacies located in the ward and patient care areas. Pharmacy service is provided to diverse areas across the hospital including inpatients outpatients oncology day patients hospital in the home and our affiliated correctional facilities.
POSITION PURPOSE
To support the Cancer services Clinical Trial and Investigational Medicines used at St Vincents Hospital Melbourne including dispensing drug accountability and preparation.
The focus for this position will be to support clinical trials conducted by the haematology and oncology units.
To participate in clinical trial training quality improvement and quality assurance activities.
To provide clinical research knowledge and support within the Pharmacy Department.
To assist billing and finance reporting for clinical trials under the supervision of the senior clinical trials pharmacist.
POSITION DUTIES
Clinical trials pharmacy service for Cancer services
To be fully aware of the standard practice to conduct a clinical trial its procedures and restrictions including strict adherence to privacy and confidentiality
To assist the senior clinical trials pharmacist in all matters relating to cancer clinical trial medications and investigational medicines within the hospital
To conduct clinical trials in accordance with the International Conference on Harmonisation NHMRC SHPA guidelines legal and hospital requirements.
To assist with establishing and maintaining policies and procedures for the clinical trials pharmacy
To develop pharmacy trial procedures and set up the trial pharmacy folder for each clinical trial
Ensure the handling of clinical trials medications is in accordance with Therapeutic Goods Administration Notes for guidance on good clinical practice (CPMP/ICH/135/95 Annotated with TGA comments. Canberra: Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged care July 2000
Accurate dispensing recording and processing of clinical trial medications.
Participate in aseptic manufacturing of chemotherapy and sterile preparations related to clinical trials.
Other tasks as requested by Senior Cancer Trials Pharmacist or Grade 4 Cancer Services Pharmacist.
Research
To assist the senior clinical trials pharmacist in development of clinical trial protocols determine pharmacy costs and attend clinical trial site initiation meeting and investigator meetings
To assist the senior clinical trials pharmacist in the development of investigator and sponsor driven clinical trial protocols
To participate in relevant St Vincents research initiatives as required
Organisational Improvement and Quality Programs
To participate in relevant St Vincents Hospital organisational improvement initiatives as required
Participate in quality and safety projects relating to clinical trials.
Financial accountability
To assist with accurate and thorough billing of clinical trials.
To ensure accurate recording of stock movement and tracking of the costs associated.

Health and Safety
Attend general hospital orientation within 3 months of commencement
Protect the health and safety of self and others complying with all health and safety related policies procedures and directions
Report incidents and accidents and collaborate with management to resolve safety issues
Complete required Fire and Emergency Training annually
Complete required Workplace Culture and Equity Training annually
As required comply with fittesting and PPE requirements
Participate in reporting and analysis of safety and quality data including risks or hazards
Report any hazards near misses and incidents (regardless of whether an injury occurred or not) into Riskman
Identify and report any variance to expected standard and minimising the risk of adverse outcomes
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential Registration License or qualification requirements
Bachelor of Pharmacy
Registered as a pharmacist with AHPRA
Other essential requirements
Exhibit excellence in pharmaceutical practice skills
Previous hospital experience in clinical trials highly desirable
Previous hospital experience in oncology and haematology highly desirable
Minimum of three years of experience in a specialist area of practice
Excellent communication skills
