Job Description

JOB TITLE: HARRTS Therapist Substance Abuse & Mental Health

SCHEDULE: Full Time 40hrs/week

LOCATION: OnSite

CITY/STATE/COUNTY: Wilmington NC New Hanover

REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL/ QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from a Masters Degree Program in counseling or related human services field
  • Possession or in process of LCAS with NCASPPB

and/or

  • Possession or in process of other licensure according with graduate degree (LPA LMHC LCSW etc.

SUMMARY OF JOB POSTING:

Completes clinical intakes for clients entering the treatment program. Provides ongoing psychosocial assessments and professional counseling for clients with complicated substance use and addictive disorders and cooccurring disorders both in individual and SAIOP group sessions.

JOB POSTING HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Evaluate the clients situation and their ability to deal with their problem; conduct an indepth clinical interview to determine psychosocial and drug history formulate a psychosocial assessment and initial treatment plan; provide indepth counseling which can range from crisis intervention to dealing with personality disorders which are associated with their addictive and/or abusive behavior and followup.
  • Able to conduct SAIOP as well as individual sessions ongoing psychosocial evaluations and counseling to monitor and assist clients with progressing in their treatment goals.
  • The caseload is characterized as complex with a preponderance of homeless and cooccurring disorder patients with substance abuse mental health and cooccurring disorder patients.
  • The counseling methods are best characterized as individual and group utilizing Motivational Interviewing cognitivebehavioral family and supportive modalities. It is individualized depending on the needs of the clients.
  • In providing counseling services the employees may deal with a variety of collateral issues such as finances medical vocational health and behavior.
  • Engage with the treatment team Network Partners agencies involved with the client such as probation TASC DSS and VR to assist client with coordination of services. Ability to interact and establish rapport with clients family members community partners referring agencies coworkers and others who are involved in the clients care and treatment.
  • Work with referrals throughout the community to screen and accept clients into the treatment program.
  • Transport clients utilizing a 12/15 passenger van to and from group or assist in SAIOP group transportation.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and able to maintain appropriate clinical documentation/ record keeping for services provider.
  • Able to use EMR as well as other web based programs that are part of service engagement.
  • May be subject to inside environmental conditions and exposed to fumes odors dusts mists gasses or poor ventilation and subject to work in close quarters. Employees may be exposed to human body fluids and are covered by the OSHA rules and regulations on blood borne pathogens.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Considerable knowledge of the practical application of different therapeutic approaches group dynamics crisis intervention and family therapy.
  • Considerable knowledge of community resources.
  • Knowledge of the psychosocial socioeconomic and behavioral problems and their treatment. Has considerable knowledge of addiction and mental health diagnoses as well as the associated problems that accompany both.
  • Knowledge of laws regulations and policies which govern the program.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology disease processes and psychopharmacy.
  • Skill in establishing rapport with a client and/or family and applying techniques of assessing psychosocial behavioral and psychological aspects of the client.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers supervisors and members of the community.
  • Ability to formulate treatment goals and to record concisely required documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effective in oral and written forms.
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions and exposed to fumes odors dusts mists gasses or poor ventilation and subject to work in close quarters. Employees may be exposed to human body fluids and are covered by the OSHA rules and regulations on blood borne pathogens.
  • Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of stooping reaching and walking fingering grasping talking hearing and performing repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly or frequently to move objects.
  • Must possess the visual acuity to perform extensive reading.
