Job Description

Position Summary
The Associate Director for Leadership who reports to the Director of Leadership and Civic Engagement provides a compelling vision for systematic leadership development across UNCG . The Associate Director in collaboration with the Associate Director for Civic Engagement provide direction on the integration of leadership service and civic engagement across the office. The Associate Director fosters relationships on and off campus that lead to sustainable programs designed to enrich student leadership development. The Associate Director understands and incorporates theoretical models of leadership development including an emphasis on the social change model. The Associate Director is expected to be wellversed in leadership and student development literature with the ability to advance scholarship within the field. With an office division and institutional commitment to student retention and student success this position works to implement the leadership portfolio and support these efforts in the office and across campus. The Associate Director advances institutionalization of curricular and cocurricular processes and infrastructure for campuswide leadership development within the academic mission of UNCG and consults frequently with other programmatic units throughout the university. Responsibilities include providing overall administrative support for the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagements leadership development initiatives. Responsibilities Institutionalize OLCEs Leadership Framework Supervise the Assistant Director for Leadership Graduate Assistant for Leadership and undergraduate student workers Provide direct oversight of the Leadership Challenge (cocurricular multilevel leader development program); creating strategic partnerships and collaborations that enable Leadership Challenge to be administered within diverse programmatic contexts Supervise assessment and evaluation of leadership programming and office wide assessment in collaboration with Director and Associate Director for Civic Engagement Oversee the online leadership program in coordination with the Leadership Coordinator Maintain significant and expanding collaborations with multiple UNC Greensboro entities engaged in student leadership and civic engagement including but not limited to the Lloyd International Honors College Residential Colleges Housing and Residence Life Orientation Athletics and Recreation and Wellness International Program Center Work in collaboration with the Associate Director for Civic Engagement to fully integrate leadership and civic engagement initiatives across the office and campus Provide training for the UNCG professional staff community members and graduate students serving as Cohort Leaders and Coaches within the Leadership Challenge Program Assist in leadership research initiatives Explore partnerships for funding grants sponsorships of leadership programming including working with University Advancement Serve on OLCE University and community committees as needed Serve as an Advisor/Mentor/Coach for students involved in leadership organizations and activities stemming from the work of the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a masters degree plus 5 years of experience in leadership development/coaching higher education student development and communityuniversity partnerships. Candidate should prove to have excellent oral written and project management skills supervision of professional staff assessment and evaluation experience and the ability to set priorities among competing demands. Other qualifications include the ability to create and deliver effective instructional presentations for faculty students and community partners collaborate effectively with a diverse range of populations and communicate program goals to internal and external audiences. The successful candidate has extensive knowledge of leadership theory and demonstrates experience conceiving developing facilitating and evaluating experiential leadership programs for college students. Curriculum development and training/facilitation experience is essential. The successful candidate will exhibit a commitment to student success and retention efforts. In addition this position will need to inspire motivate and support students staff and faculty in their efforts within leadership education to prepare for effective citizenship. Availability for occasional evening and weekend programming is essential. Ability to use multimedia strategies for programmatic teaching and administration required.
