The Export Control Classification Expert is the lead person for the classification of chemicals and biological items against export control regulations in the Pharma Division. As such he/she is ultimately responsible for reviewing items with a view to identify and when applicable attribute the relevant Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) and wherever relevant and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) category number to each item in accordance with a predetermined procedure.
The Expert also manages projects aimed at coordinating the efforts within the Pharma Division to improve process description and methods for the classification of different types of items. In this context the Expert also collaborates with other experts in the classification of different items (e.g. equipment materials software technology etc.
Accountability for export control product classification for chemical substances and biological materials under the Internal Compliance Program as prescribed by external export control authorities
Proven capacity to take appropriate decisions in the field of export control product classification for chemical substances and biological materials
Maintain proper documentation of classifications and update relevant master data in preparation for audits and inquiries
University Degree in Chemistry Biology or Biochemistry
Solid years of experiences in chemical and biological product classification
The ability to assess and classify chemicals and biological items used in the pharma industry without supervision
Good communication skills to mobilize organizational units outside the home organization to gather information necessary to carry out wellfounded export control classification decisions
Good experience in SAP GTS (Global Trade Services) Legal Control Product Classification module as an active user
Good experience working with US EU and Swiss export control regulations
