Job Description

Salary/Position Classification

  • $50000 dependent on experience 9 month contract Exempt
  • 20 hours per week
  • 100 Remote Work Availability: No
  • Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No

Purpose of Position

The Department of Energy and Petroleum Engineering invites applications for an Associate Teaching Professor beginning in Fall 2024.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teaching petroleum and energy engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels depending on qualifications.
  • Participation in recruiting and outreach activities.
  • Some administrative duties that may include management of the departments graduate program and grants
  • Other duties as needed by the department.

Required Competencies

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to teach inspire and mentor students
  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty staff and students
  • Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department and the College of Engineering and Mines
  • Ability to adapt to current methods of teaching including online delivery
  • Ability to engage industry partners and connect course content to the practice of engineering in the field

Minimum Requirements

  • A Ph.D. degree in Petroleum Engineering Energy Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Five years of experience working in an engineering role in the energy industry.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten years of experience working in an engineering role in the energy industry.
