Administrative Office Professional I Salary:$22.99 $27.64hourly plus bilingual and uniform allowance when applicable. Administrative Office Professional II Salary:$28.97 $35.05hourlyplus bilingual and uniform allowance when applicable.

We are currently accepting applications to fill several Administrative Office Professional I/II (AOP) vacancies for two dynamic County of Santa Barbara departments: Sheriffs Office and the Probation Department. Location of Vacancies: Sheriffs Office and Probation Department: Appointee must be willing to accept an assignment at All Locationsthroughout the County of Santa Barbara. The employment list established will be used to fill current and future AOP I/II vacancies for All Locations(separate lists for different locations will not be established). Therefore applicants must check All Locations on the application agency wide question and /or supplemental question acknowledging this is required for the position.Incumbent must be willing to accept an assignment at any location throughoutthe County of Santa Barbara.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DESCRIPTIONS
Sheriffs Office:Custody Operations is a 24/7 operation with a work schedule of rotating 12hour shifts including nights weekends and holidays. AOPs are assigned to either the Main Jail in Santa Barbara or Northern Branch Jail in Santa Maria; duties include processing new arrestees for booking into custody; verifying bail amounts at booking; assisting the general public by phone and inperson; scheduling court dates; processing inmate records to facilitate release or transfer; and performing related duties as assigned. Duties are performed in a lockeddown facility and require direct and indirect contact with inmates.
For the Probation Department:Assignments may include the Santa Maria Juvenile Justice Center Santa Maria Adult/Juvenile Support Unit Court Support/Pretrial Unit Lompoc Support Unit Santa Barbara Adult/Juvenile Support Units and Administration.
Under general supervision works with confidential information interacts with public and partner agencies inperson and via phone and email schedules virtual interviews interacts with clients processes payments and assists clients with the selfservice kiosk and documents programming attendance. May assist in obtaining police reports and court documents filing reports with Superior Court case management system data entry meeting minutes and document scanning. Performs related duties as assigned.
The Santa Maria Juvenile Justice Center is a 24/7 locked facility and AOPs at that assignment staff the Master Control Room which requires that they monitor cameras for security issues at the facility and report any concerns; shift work at the Juvenile Justice Center is required including graveyards nights and/or weekends. In addition to the above duties AOPs assigned to the Santa Maria Juvenile Justice Center interact with youth and perform data entry processes during intake bookings and releases and contact parents and various agencies regarding youths status. For other assignments shifts are typically Monday through Friday with the possibility of a modified work schedule.

SELECTION & EXAMINATION PROCESS

Candidates must receive a percentage score of at least 70 on the Office Professional assessment to be placed on an employment list. An adjustment may be made to raw scores based on factors listed in Civil Service Rule VI. Those candidates who are successful in the selection process will have their names placed on the employment list for a minimum of three months. At the time the employment list is established all candidates will receive an email notice of their score on the exam(s) rank on the employment list and exact duration of the employment list. Human Resources will notify you by email if your name is removed.
Candidates who pass the Civil Service examination process and are placed in the top group of the employment list will be certified to the hiring department for consideration. The next step includes a selection interview with the hiring manager(s).
BACKGROUND DISQUALIFIERS:
