The Rescue Mission of Roanoke is seeking a passionate and strategic Development and Communication Manager to enhance awareness engagement and support for our Mission of Helping Hurting People in Jesus Name those individuals and families facing homelessness hunger and addiction. This role is ideal for a relationshipdriven communicator who thrives in nonprofit marketing fundraising and event promotion. The Development and Communication Manager will develop compelling messaging and content to connect with donors volunteers and the community while ensuring the Missions impact is effectively shared across all platforms.
This team member will have a direct report within the Development Department with possible volunteers and/or interns.

Hours of Availability:
FullTime (hourly)
Monday Friday hours range between 8am 6:00pm with hours adjusted to meet the needs of the role. Evenings holidays and weekends as scheduled

Career Summary
1. Development and Communication
a. Assist in developing comprehensive development and communication strategies to increase community awareness and donor engagement.
b. Manage social media channels (Facebook Instagram LinkedIn YouTube) creating compelling content that shares success stories engages supporters and drives action.
c. Oversee email marketing campaigns website updates and digital storytelling to enhance outreach.
d. Work with design team to create print and digital materials including newsletters brochures donor appeals and press releases.
2. Fundraising & Donor Engagement
a. Support fundraising campaigns including annual giving major gift appeals and matching gift campaigns.
b. Create impactful donor communications that inspire giving and longterm support.
c. Collaborate with the Development team on donor stewardship and recognition initiatives.
3. Event Promotion & Community Engagement
a. Develop marketing strategies for key events including Drumstick DASH annual events and seasonal giving campaigns.
b. Coordinate promotional materials media outreach and digital campaigns to maximize participation.
c. Engage with community partners businesses and churches to strengthen support for the Missions programs.
Job Specific Qualifications:
Minimum of two 2 years experience in marketing communications development or public relations preferably in a nonprofit setting.
Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and timemanagement skills
Experience with Microsoft office and Google Workspace.
Knowledge of social media advertising and community engagement strategies.
Excellent writing storytelling editing and content creation skills with experience in social media management and email marketing.
Familiarity with donor engagement strategies and fundraising best practices a plus.
Experience planning and promoting events.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced missiondriven environment.
Experience working with deadlines and able to manage multiple tasks.
Passion for the Rescue Missions mission of serving those in need.
