B.S. degree in wildlife ecology biology or related fieldExperience with at least one taxonomic group (mammals birds herptiles fish mussels donates butterflies or plants
One year or more experience of equivalent research experience
Job Description:
Seasonal biological technicians are needed to help with Iowas Multiple Species Inventory and Monitoring (MSIM) program. Applicants will travel throughout the state of Iowa working as part of a research and monitoring team to:
Collect information on birds mammals reptiles amphibians reptiles and fish
Maintain a variety of traps for small mammals amphibians reptiles and fish
Conduct surveys for and handling butterflies
Donate identify and measure plant species
Data Entry
Assisting with other tasks as needed
Filed work for all positions will be conducted throughout the state of Iowa during varying weather conditions. In addition to travel applicants should expect to work weekends holidays nights and evenings as required. Qualified applicants with strong work ethic must possess the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Applicants must have the physical ability to:
Work long hours outdoors
Walk long distances
Carry field equipment in rough terrain
Wade through water
