Overview:
A communityfocused health center in Union City CA is seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant. This role involves supporting dental providers with various clinical procedures as specified by the California Dental Practice Act. The position is fulltime typically Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients in the waiting area and escort them to the operatory ensuring completion of forms and signatures
- Review medical history and treatment plans and explain necessary dental procedures to patients
- Check the daily schedule to set up appropriate trays and instruments
- Assist with procedures including charting taking and pouring impressions and other chairside duties
- Adhere to Universal Precautions and general office safety measures
- Stock operatories with necessary dental supplies and mount xrays as per protocol
- Deliver oral hygiene instruction in accordance with protocol
- Maintain electronic health record entries for each patient visit
- Meet the service excellence standards of the health center
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- BLS Certification required
- Certified Dental Assistant or Dental Assistant Certificate required
- Minimum of oneyear experience in a nonprofit setting preferred
- Ability to communicate in English and Spanish required
- Good communication skills and knowledge of dental health education subjects
- Professionalism and the ability to demonstrate it at all times
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends
- Ability to travel to various clinic sites
