Purpose
To coordinate the Special Education program and ensure campus compliance with Special Education law.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain knowledge of current Special Education regulations and best practices
- Support general education teachers and administrators in implementation of appropriate strategies to meet the needs of students with IEPs
- Support implementation of accommodations and modifications for students with IEPs in the general education classroom and during Special Education service time
- Analyze assessment results to drive instruction and IEP development
- Develop and assist with appropriate behavior management techniques for students with special needs
- Coordinate progress report completion in accordance with district guidelines
- Train Special Education Instructional Assistants as assigned
- Mentor Resource Specialists at assigned sites
- Develop IEPs in accordance with federal state and district standards
- Create and maintain Special Education documentation as required by federal state and district regulations
- Manage IEPs in appropriate district software
- Ensure IEP timeline compliance of assigned caseload
- Analyze and report on results of academic assessments
- Manage relationships with outside vendors to ensure students receive all individually prescribed IEP services (i.e. Occupational Therapy Language and Speech etc.
- Schedule and facilitate IEP meetings in a collaborative and professional manner
- Develop positive relationships with parents and families in order to engage them in the IEP process and keep them apprised of student progress.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited fouryear educational institution
- Valid Nevada Certification in Special Education or eligible to acquire the license
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management both internal and external to the district.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
- Ability to organize special programs for assigned campuses.
- Ability to use computer including software database used by the district spreadsheet and word processing software calculator copy machine and telephone.

- Ability to use effective interview techniques effective public speaking skills and problemsolving skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
- Moderate local travel between campuses is required.
