Burnside & Associates Limited (Burnside) is interested in Intermediate Engineers or Technologists with experience in land development or municipal engineering design to assist with reviewing proposed development applications and designs on behalf of municipal clients. The Municipal Review team has significant opportunity for continued growth within the GTA and beyond and is seeking Staff to facilitate this growth.
The team focuses largely on assisting municipal clients. Our team is involved in all stages of development review associated with planning applications (ex. subdivisions site plans official plan and zoning amendments etc. including detailed engineering design review.
Role Specifics
Reporting to the Manager of Municipal Review this position will work with a team of engineers and technologists to carry out the following tasks:
Review proposed development applications and designs for compliance with design standards and guidelines;
Act as a liaison between municipal clients and developers;
Coordinate review with a team of multidisciplinary engineers and technologists;
Facilitate plan review meetings with developers design engineers municipal engineers and staff to discuss reviews design standard requirements and other applicable standards;
Prepare Agreements for Subdivision Site Plan Preservicing and Site Alteration;
Review and respond to concerns from the general public regarding development issues;
Coordinate construction inspections checking for conformity to approved design drawings;
Prepare and present reports to municipal staff; and
Other duties as assigned.
Professional Knowledge Skills & Qualifications
Required Qualifications Experience & Skills:
Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario with a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in land development design or municipal engineering.
Certified Engineering Technologist with a minimum of 7 years of engineering experience in land development design or municipal engineering.
Strong client project management and communication skills.
Understanding of the development process municipal and provincial approval process and all other relevant regulations and standards
Desired Skills & Experiences:
Subdivision and Site plan design and approval process.
Subdivision and Site Plan construction.
General knowledge in stormwater management design and modelling water and wastewater system design urban planning process transportation natural heritage geotechnical hydrogeology and noise would be an asset.
