Job Description
The Department of Languages Literatures and Linguistics at Syracuse University is seeking PartTime Instructor(s) to teach 4credit section(s) of French 101202 in the Spring 2024 semester which begins January 16 2024 (appointment begins on January 9 2024. Offer is contingent upon sufficient enrollment. The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their percreditratehistory within the hiring department COURSE DESCRIPTIONS : French 101 French I Introductory proficiencybased course which prepares students to understand speak read and write in culturally authentic contexts. Activities are conducted in French. French 102 French II Continuing proficiencybased course which develops communicative abilities in speaking listening reading and writing in culturally authentic contexts. Activities are conducted in French. French 201 French III Continuing proficiencybased course which refines and expands previously acquired linguistic skills in culturally authentic contexts. Activities are conducted in French. French 202 French IV Continuing proficiencybased course which focuses on reading discussing and analyzing authentic contexts as a basis for the expression and interpretation of meaning. Activities are conducted in French.

Responsibilities
It is understood that teaching assignment may include: Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date. Preparation of lectures projects or other student assignments. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours. Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. Meeting all designated class periods. Submitting completed midsemester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations. Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner. Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations. Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.

Qualifications
Masters Degree required; native or nearnative fluency required. Experience in universitylevel teaching preferred
