Job Description

Position Title:

Adjunct Painting/Drawing

Time Type:

Part time

Position Summary and Qualifications:

The Department of Art and Art History invites applications for an Adjunct Professor in Painting/Drawing. This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in painting and drawing fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment and encouraging students to develop technical skills conceptual approaches and personal artistic expression.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach one/two course(s) per semester in painting and/or drawing ranging from introductory to advanced levels.
  • Develop and implement engaging studentcentered curricula that integrate contemporary and historical approaches to painting and drawing.
  • Provide guidance and constructive critique to students to support artistic growth and technical proficiency.
  • Maintain an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages diverse perspectives and artistic experimentation.
  • Participate in departmental critiques exhibitions or student portfolio reviews as appropriate.
  • Adhere to institutional policies and deadlines related to course management grading and student communication.

Qualifications:

  • MFA or equivalent terminal degree in Painting Drawing or a related field.
  • Collegelevel teaching experience preferred.
  • Active professional practice in painting drawing or related media.
  • Strong knowledge of traditional and contemporary approaches to painting and drawing.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
